pear smtp conneection to MS Exchange

It is possible to code pear smtp library to connet to MS Exchange server to send emails?

 

I tried many times and failed, and my friend told me that MS Exchange server is not standard smtp; so php pear smtp library can not estiblished the connetion to send email.

 

Please help.
