Recommended Posts

$sql = "SELECT password FROM users WHERE username = '".$_POST['username']."'";
$result = mysql_query($sql);
$password=  mysql_fetch_array($result)

That is how i would normally do it with MYSQL

but how do i do it with pear

i have this so far but what do i add to fetch

$get_pass = $db_object->query("SELECT password FROM users WHERE username = '".$_POST['username']."'");

if (DB::isError($get_pass)) {
      die($get_pass->getMessage());
}

in my conn file I use
$db->setFetchMode(DB_FETCHMODE_ASSOC);

immediately after my connection this means I can use

$res =& $db->query($sql);
while($myrow =& $res->fetchRow()){

                        }

and all the rows will be assoc arrays. - for the rare time I want something other then the assoc array, there is a way to override the fetch more for that one instance (not sure what that is, but it is in the docs.)

Also, if you are just starting an app, go with the MDB2 - DB is stopped future updates, so switch now - looks like almost a drop in replacement, however I have not done it yet.
