Not clear what you are asking for here.

If by "simplistic" you mean non-IDE's then there are 3 that are all free and have a degree of popularity.  They are all electron apps as well, so they are all able to be integrated with Node libraries through extensions.

They are:

They all have basic support for popular web development components (html, js, css).  They all have large communities that have contributed extensions that add in support for connecting to servers or version control,  add in support for popular web development languages like Python, PHP or Ruby, and often have extensions that add support for working with a specific framework like Symfony or Laravel.  For example, if you're working with Twig, there are extensions for all 3 editors that provide color syntax highlighting when editing a twig template.
