Ok I'm going through a tutorial which has challenged me to create a php quiz that'll carry variables like the current question & score through using $_GET & $_POST method - it's also all got to be contained in one page.

I've 'almost' got it working, but there's one thing I just don't understand.  If you try the quiz, you'll see that if you answer correctly to question 1 (a) it shoul add to your score variable in the URL, however on clicking next it just appends &score= in the URL (no value) - if you then click next on the next page (even without selecting an answer to that question) the correct score appears?!

Can anyone help me with understanding this?

The calculated score is a php function which is run on the server and not the client side, there fore the generated href is using the value of $_GET[score] that it has calculated already, which when you start the quiz is nothing, when it goes away to generate question2 on the server it calculates the $_GET[score] which now is 1 (if you got the question right) if you want it to pass the correct value of $_GET[score] after each correct score, you will need a javascript function which increments the score and not a php one

Hmm that's strange, cos the tutorial example doesn't use javascript at all?!

It's driving me bananas - I can't see what's different about his example (that works) and the example I've made - I know there's better ways (arrays, javascript etc) but I guess the point of the tut is to teach me to use php!

Can you spot why the code below works and mine doesn't?
