use mariadb connector C in php C extension.

i use the mariadb connector C in PHP-CPP php C++ extension & i am trying to find out how to use it in a php C extension. any examples or links to tutorials will be appreciated. PHP-CPP wraps the C++ in C & has that extra layer so i would like to use C & not have that added layer.
