Hello.
I just updated all of my soft due to a reformat, and i installaed apache, then php which configured itself. That ran fine. I started to installa mysql, worked fine up until i try to use mysql_connect(). At which point there is no error, but the page refuses to load at all. If i comment out that line it works fine once more. I installed MySQL and it runs fine on the side. I uncommented the extensions dir in php, and uncomment the mysql extensions. I configured the right port in php.ini . I copied the library from MySQl to windows folder and PHP folder. Any ideas what i am missing?
php.ini
extension_dir = "C:\Program Files\PHP\ext\"
extension=php_mysql.dll
[MySQL]

mysql.max_links = -1

; the $MYSQL_TCP_PORT or the mysql-tcp entry in /etc/services or the
; compile-time value defined MYSQL_PORT (in that order).  Win32 will only look
; at MYSQL_PORT.
mysql.default_port = 3306

mysql.default_socket =

mysql.default_host = localhost

; Default user for mysql_connect() (doesn't apply in safe mode).
mysql.default_user =

; Default password for mysql_connect() (doesn't apply in safe mode).
; Note that this is generally a *bad* idea to store passwords in this file.
; *Any* user with PHP access can run 'echo get_cfg_var("mysql.default_password")
; and reveal this password!  And of course, any users with read access to this
; file will be able to reveal the password as well.
mysql.default_password =

mysql.connect_timeout = 60

; Trace mode. When trace_mode is active (=On), warnings for table/index scans and
; SQL-Errors will be displayed.
mysql.trace_mode = Off
[EDIT[
Note here is a piece of simplified code that i tried:
<?php
include 'conf/conf.php';
echo 'test';
$link = mysql_connect('localhost:3306', 'root', 'passhere');
if(!$link){
die("Couldn't connect: ".mysql_error());
}
?>
I get the test output adn after that nothing even thoug i have a page to display afterwards
Thanks in advance.

If you used the installer then download the zip binaries instead and extract the contents of the zip to your PHP installation folder overwriting all existing files/folders. The installer doesnt include all files. Whereas the zip binaries do.

Also do not copy the mysql library from the MySQL folder, but libmysql.dll from the php folder.

Also make sure you restart the server too when you move the files/changes.
