jasper182 Posted January 16, 2007 Share Posted January 16, 2007 I'm working on a project for school and I am trying to use an FTP connection to upload/download files from a FTP server that isn't on the school's network. Unfortunatly, our school's firewall blocks all incoming/outgoing FTP requests because they believe FTP is to insecure. While this may or may not be true (I don't know much about the security of FTP transfers) I was told that I could use SFTP by our network's admin. However, I have been unable to find any documentation on using SFTP with PHP. Is this even possible? If so, could you help point me in the right direction? Thanks. I've been looking for such a solution, too.For your information, makeshift_theory, check out this comment from the link you provided:[code]Just remember: SSL FTP != SFTPDifferences: an SSL FTP connects on port 990, and you need an ftp server which will support this (seems like none in the SuSE linux distribution do). Even if you get this function to work, and it connects ok to a normal FTP server on port 21, data WILL NOT BE ENCRYPTED.
