ripcurlksm Posted January 19, 2007 Share Posted January 19, 2007 I have a simple MySQL database of reports which contains the company's name, description and a URL linking to that companies report which is either a .PDF or .PPT file (PowerPoint slide). I have a PHP search page to query the MySQL database, but is it possible to also include the PHP search to look in a specific directory and sort through .PDF text and PowerPoint slides and return keywords?Regards,Kevin Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/34839-php-document-search/ Share on other sites More sharing options...
Crimpage Posted January 19, 2007 Share Posted January 19, 2007 Yes you can. This is straight from the php website.
<?php// Note that !== did not exist until 4.0.0-RC2if ($handle = opendir('/path/to/files')) { echo "Directory handle: $handle\n"; echo "Files:\n"; /* This is the correct way to loop over the directory. */ while (false !== ($file = readdir($handle))) { echo "$file\n"; } /* This is the WRONG way to loop over the directory. */ while ($file = readdir($handle)) { echo "$file\n"; } closedir($handle);}?>
You can put $file into an array or do with it what you like.Cheers,Dave.
