confirm function and php

Hi

 

I am trying to write a script which ask for the user's confimation before deleting an article from the database. script works fine but I would like to add the article's name to the message like: are you sure you want to delete "name of the article". but I had no luck, here is my code:

 

function delArticle(article)
{
      
   if (confirm("Delete article: "+article+"?"))
   {
               // then submit the form, delete article
  f.submit();
   }
   else
   {     
 return false
   }
} 

 

and form:

 

<form action="deletenews.php" method="post" onSubmit="return delArticle(\'$article\')" name="deleteForm">

   <input name="delete" type="submit" id="delete" value="Delete news"/>
    </p>

 

any idea?
