directory structure

Hey Guys,

 

I'm working on a site with a dynamic directory structure. The site will eventually contain hundreds, hopefully even thousands of subdirectories. I'm new to this type of situation, so I'm asking for advice on how this can be designed efficiently.

 

Also, when it comes to naming these directories on the fly, is there a logical way / order to do this that will allow the server to quickly find the desired locations.
