rline101
I need some advice re permissions etc. Here's the situation: at my workplace, I have a website which sits in a folder created by the IT manager, and given certain permissions (I'm not even yet sure how to determine what the permissions are). Whenever I'm at my workplace I just copy and paste files from my local machine to the web folder and it's on the web. Easy! But at home, I have dialup access and needed to upload files to the same folder. So I wrote a php script to upload files. Initially it didn't work as there were permissions issues. So at work I went to the Security tab on the properties of the web folder and clicked "Full Control". From then on, I could upload any files from home. But... 1)When I got back to work, I couldn't always delete or move files in the web folder as I previously could. 2)Now I'm not sure whether I've completely stuffed up the file permissions. So, my bottom line question is this: to enable me to upload and delete files from that directory from home, but so that I can still delete and move files at work, what permissions should I give to the folder? There are 3 "groups": Everyone, me and work users. (And have I made some massive security hole by my previous actions??) Many thanks!
