Mr. R
Hi, i have been using wamp for a while now and having no problems. I've just got a new laptop and was wondering if there are any better ones to use rather than wamp? Can someone reccomend one to me? Thanks Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/48507-solved-wamp-or-any-better/ Share on other sites

Mr. R
does lamp have anything better than wamp? Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/48507-solved-wamp-or-any-better/#findComment-237266 Share on other sites
shaunrigby
if WAMP means Windows, Apache, Mysql, PHP then its down to personal preference, Apache is the same no matter what OS you use, along with MySQL and PHP, If you are exposing your PC/Server directly to the internet then use LAMP - Linux is much harder to hack than Windoze, if not then use WAMP as it is much easier to set up. What dist of Linux are you planning to use? Ubuntu? MadTechie
well mine is setup so people can connect from outside in, but i use windows so for debugging wamp would have more options Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/48507-solved-wamp-or-any-better/#findComment-237271 Share on other sites

shaunrigby
if you are using WAMP, i would suggest loosing Vista and going down to Pro Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/48507-solved-wamp-or-any-better/#findComment-237280 Share on other sites

shaunrigby
New Windoze Operating System = Security Holes & Bugs Safest option would be to download Ubuntu - it-s free and uses less resources than windows, if you choose LAMP with Ubuntu, PM me and I will help you get it set up, or send me an e-mail: shaun dot rigby at gmail dot com Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/48507-solved-wamp-or-any-better/#findComment-237291 Share on other sites
