ke6rwj
So I'm not a noob at this, but i cant seem to find out the situation here.. running CentOS 4 with Apache version: Apache/2.0.52 I have 20 images in a website. I see certain PNG and GIF images no problem. others do not show up at all in the directory listing. I changed the security on all the images to 777 / owner apache / group apache drwxrwxr-x 2 apache apache 4096 Apr 26 12:51 . drwxrwxr-x 7 nbkhwjm nbkhwjm 4096 Apr 20 13:15 .. -rwxrwxr-x 1 apache apache 833 Jan 25 09:42 designer_editdelete.png -rwxrwxr-x 1 apache apache 1661 Apr 26 13:14 details.png -rwxrwxr-x 1 apache apache 1814 Apr 26 12:49 edit.png -rwxrwxr-x 1 apache apache 370 Apr 25 13:22 issued_2.png -rwxrwxr-x 1 apache apache 1220 Apr 26 12:53 issued.png -rwxrwxr-x 1 apache apache 2015 Apr 26 12:40 key2.gif -rwxrwxr-x 1 apache apache 2192 Apr 26 12:39 key3.gif -rwxrwxr-x 1 apache apache 1415 Apr 26 12:38 key.gif -rwxrwxr-x 1 apache apache 833 Oct 20 2006 rejected.png -rwxrwxr-x 1 apache apache 1571 Apr 26 12:48 requested_1.png -rwxrwxr-x 1 apache apache 2196 Apr 3 17:44 requested.gif -rwxrwxr-x 1 apache apache 592 Jan 25 09:42 sent.png -rwxrwxr-x 1 apache apache 2153 Apr 26 12:43 Starred-32x32.png -rwxrwxr-x 1 apache apache 843 Jan 25 09:42 view.png -rwxrwxr-x 1 apache apache 1914 Oct 20 2006 waiting.png This is what the Directory shows when browsing. designer_editdelete.png 25-Jan-2007 09:42 833 issued.png 26-Apr-2007 12:53 1.2K issued_2.png 25-Apr-2007 13:22 370 rejected.png 20-Oct-2006 10:34 833 requested.gif 03-Apr-2007 17:44 2.1K sent.png 25-Jan-2007 09:42 592 view.png 25-Jan-2007 09:42 843 waiting.png 20-Oct-2006 10:36 1.9K I checked the magic type of the files and they are identical... so im at a loss. The Apache conf is default for this installation, nothing that looks like it is limiting the extension... but if it was other PNG would fail. Its not a filesize thing, because there are other images that are larger that do work... so... I thought this was an image protection system in the conf, but I can link directly to other images in the same directory no problem. even PNG's. thanks. one other thing the error i get is "forbidden"...403. when trying to go directly to the image, but other PNG i dont... ke6rwj
well still dont know why apache showed me Forbidden... but here is what i did. I open the files up in gimp and save as a different name. (with the same extension) and they work. funny because KDE shows them, all apps dont say they are bad or anything... thats my workaround
