Please help reconfigure PHP for gd support -

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

The details:

- Fedora Core 4

- Apache 2.054

- PHP 5.0.4

I started out w/ no gd support at all. Being the Linux noob I am I spent some days reading manuals, forums etc. Learned how to use yum and got gd support enabled on my server. Ya!

Ran some test scripts and it all looks good. But then I run phpinfo and not what I wanted to see. Near the bottom of the page where the gd section it is everything looks peachy, but up at the top in the 'config file' section I see that blasted 'without-gd' line. And of course my script is not working on my site the way it's supposed to.

So I've done a ton more reading and searching and I'm obviously missing something or too stoopid to figure this out on my own. I've tried to reconfigure PHP a bunch of times, but can not get it to work. Can someone please, for the love of god, help me before I go insane!?

Please tell me what info, files, etc you need to know or see to help me. Thank you in advance,

j

Figured ya'll might need these, I don't know what to do:

Config command:

./configure --build=i386-redhat-linux --host=i386-redhat-linux --target=i386-redhat-linux-gnu \
--program-prefix= --prefix=/usr --exec-prefix=/usr --bindir=/usr/bin --sbindir=/usr/sbin \
--sysconfdir=/etc --datadir=/usr/share --includedir=/usr/include --libdir=/usr/lib \
--libexecdir=/usr/libexec --localstatedir=/var --sharedstatedir=/usr/com --mandir=/usr/share/man \
--infodir=/usr/share/info --cache-file=../config.cache --with-libdir=lib \
--with-config-file-path=/etc --with-config-file-scan-dir=/etc/php.d --disable-debug --with-pic \
--disable-rpath --with-bz2 --with-curl --with-exec-dir=/usr/bin --with-freetype-dir=/usr \
--with-png-dir=/usr --enable-gd-native-ttf --without-gdbm --with-gettext --with-gmp \
--with-iconv --with-jpeg-dir=/usr --with-openssl --with-png --with-pspell --with-expat-dir=/usr \
--with-pcre-regex=/usr --with-zlib --with-layout=GNU --enable-exif --enable-ftp \
--enable-magic-quotes --enable-sockets --enable-sysvsem --enable-sysvshm --enable-sysvmsg \
--enable-track-vars --enable-trans-sid --enable-yp --enable-wddx --with-pear=/usr/share/pear \
--with-kerberos --enable-ucd-snmp-hack --with-unixODBC=shared,/usr --enable-memory-limit \
--enable-shmop --enable-calendar --enable-dbx --enable-dio --with-mime-magic=/etc/httpd/conf/magic \
--without-sqlite --with-libxml-dir=/usr --with-xml --with-apxs2=/usr/sbin/apxs \
--without-mysql --with-gd --without-odbc --disable-dom --disable-dba

And then I get this:

Sorry, I cannot run apxs.  Possible reasons follow:

1. Perl is not installed
2. apxs was not found. Try to pass the path using --with-apxs2=/path/to/apxs
3. Apache was not built using --enable-so (the apxs usage page is displayed)

The output of /usr/sbin/apxs follows:
./configure: line 6512: /usr/sbin/apxs: No such file or directory
configure: error: Aborting

Ideas? Thanks,

j
