siwelis
If someone had lets say 1-3k files, all of which were accessed VIA mod_rewrite ... Do you think the CPU usage would be unbearably substantial? Thank you for your opinions and expertise! Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/53952-htaccess-mod_rewrite-cpu-usage-question/ Share on other sites
sebastiaandraaisma
Would that not depend on the server where your website is hosted? I don't think that I as a visitor would experience any increase in my cpu usage since php is a server side language. It would be useful to know what type of server your hosting on, speed, memory etc. But I think there are not that many web hosts that run on low grade machines. The server will do all calculations before I receive the results in my browser but it might take a little longer to process compared to static text (but 3k is not that heavy I think). Keep in mind that what I wrote is what I believe to be true and I'm not an expert, so I might be wrong Kind regards, Sebas.
