Creating a zip/rar file when uploading

Hi Guys,

 

when a user uploads a file to my site i was first of all wanting to put the file into a zip/rar file for easier downloading i havce this so far:

 

// create a zip file with file inside...
$createZip = new createZip;  
$fileContents = file_get_contents(uploads/$filename); 
$createZip -> addFile($fileContents, $filename);
$fileName = "$filename.zip";

 

can anyone tell me if i'm on the right track from here i'm a bit stumped lol

You need to define $filename before you run the addFile() function

i have this now:

 

     $filename_zip = $renamed_file;
     $file_contents = file_get_contents("uploads/$filename_zip"); 
     $createZip -> addFile("uploads/$file_contents, $filename_zip");
     $the_zip_file = "$filename_zip.zip";

 

i'm getting this error:

 

Fatal error: Call to a member function addFile() on a non-object 

 

does that mean the location of the file is wrong?

$createZip = new createZip;

 

You need to define this variable as an object first.

 

Which class are you using to do this?
