basic postal code script

hi guys i have made a basic postal code script that i would like to upgrade but cant get it to work

 

here is my basic script:

 

if (sondage_regroupement.codepostal.value.length == 0)

    {

        alert("S.V.P. rentrez votre code postal.")

        sondage_regroupement.codepostal.focus()

        return false

    }

 

i need the postal code to validate this entry :

 

/^[A-Z][0-9][A-Z](|-)[0-9][A-Z][0-9]$/
