hi guys. i am facing a few problems with using include many times

so what have i got?

index.php

include $layout

layout1.php

include content.php

include header.php

include footer.php

include menubar.php

layout1/content.php

$contentpage = "../".$page

include $contentpage

so if i go to  URL: index.php?layout=layout1&page=aboutthis.php

everything works fine :) however when i want to do HTML variables for aboutthis.php

if aboutthis.php has the following code

echo ($x . "  ".$y);

and i navigate to  index.php?layout=layout1&page=aboutthis.php?x=f00&y=ness

the output is just f00

and if i swap x and y arround the output is only nes.

my diagnosis is that only 1 of the parameters is outputted because when i navigate to aboutthis.php

and do the same variables the output is f00 ness

any suggestions on how to do the content frame with multiple variables?
