pocobueno1388
I have noticed in some PHP code that there are commas. I have no idea what they are used for. If I had to take a guess, I would say they are used to format results... Here is a chunk of code I found that has a comma in it: <?php $names=explode(",","Joe,Lisa,Bill,Roger,Fred,Kenney"); $counter=-1; while (list(,$value)=each ($names)){ //<---------------Comma on this line $counter=$counter+1; echo "<td>" . $names[$counter] . "  </td>"; $newrow=($counter % 3); if ($newrow == 2) echo "</tr><tr>" ; } ?> I can't figure out what it does? If I take it out of the code, nothing changes....I have also seen it used on displaying multidimensional arrays. When you use print_r(), instead of it coming out all bunched together, it puts each separate array on its own line. I would like to find out more on what this does, I couldn't find anything about it on google as I didn't really have a clue of what to type in. So if anyone knows of any tutorials on this, or would like to explain it, that would be greatly appreciated Thanks. wildteen88
The comma is just a symbol that separates parameters for functions. It is nothing special. it does not have a special roll in any sort of formatting.
