vynsane
do you need to have it working on windows before you put it on the server? and what OS is your server? if it's a linux/unix server, and you're not trying to test it on your local machine first, you can upload it and rename it on the server. if you need to test, upload it to a new folder on the server so it doesn't mess anything up, rename it, and then download the renamed version. also, what program are you using to write the .htaccess file? i was able to save the file correctly using araneae: www.ornj.net/araneae/ Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/56191-htaccess-needs-saving-to-htaccess/#findComment-277652 Share on other sites
per1os
You have to use the right program to save it as .htaccess, I think wordpad will save it that way, plus most text editors other than notepad will save it that way to. Try opening in wordpad and do "Save As..." and see if that works. Instead you have to open the file up into a text editor - such as notepad. Once opened in notepad Go to File > Save As... Type ".htaccess" (minus the quotes) in to the Filename box and make sure File Type is set to All Files. When you click save a file will be created with name you specified in the Filename box Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/56191-htaccess-needs-saving-to-htaccess/#findComment-277927 Share on other sites
