Adding to start of an array?

Firstly I am not that familiar with php, and not much of a "programmer". I have a (hopefully) quick/simple question. Is there a function which means you can insert a value to the start of array?

I know I can achieve it by using an array_reverse, followed by adding the desired first element to the end, followed by another array_reverse - but wondering if there is a simpler/quicker way of doing this?

Many thanks for any input.

(snippet of what I mean, using array_reverse though).

Have an array of 1, 2, 3 as values - want to put 0 in the first position...

$ar = array("1","2","3");
$ar = array_reverse($ar);
$ar[] = "0";
$ar = array_reverse($ar);

would give:

0

1

2

3

(No, I haven't tested that code, just written it for an example).
