Any idea on how to unzip a TAR file full of JPGs via PHP code?

Hello,

 

I need to create a CRON job that will unzip a xxxx.tar file each night and place the contents (approx 100 JPG images) into a separate folder.  Does anyone know how this can be done?  I'm running PHP v4.3.9 with Safe Mode ON.
