garydt
I'm trying to work out how to use mysql-error to see why - mysql_query("DELETE FROM guestbook WHERE id = '$recnum'"); won't delete records. How do i use mysql_error to tell me why the records won't delete? Thanks Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/60845-mysql-error/ Share on other sites
akitchin
append it to the end with an or die() clause. alternatively, you can simply check the return value - if it's a resource, it was successful; otherwise, it failed: $result = mysql_query("DELETE FROM guestbook WHERE id = '$recnum'") or die('Error with query: '.mysql_error()); if (!is_resource($result)) { echo 'THE ROOF! THE ROOF! THE ROOF IS ON FIRE! contrary to popular opinion, we actually DO need some water to put this:<br />'; echo mysql_error(); echo '<br /> out.'; } Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/60845-mysql-error/#findComment-302721 Share on other sites
