I'm running Apache 2 and PHP5.2 ... I'm using Windows XP

I Wrote a test php file as follows:

<html>
<head>
<title>PHP Test</title>
</head>
<body>
<p>This is an HTML line
<?php
echo “<p>This is a PHP line</p>”;
phpinfo();
?>
</body>
</html>

but I get the following error

PHP Parse error:  syntax error, unexpected '>' in C:\\Apache2\\Apache2\\htdocs\\test\\test.php on line 8

If I comment out "echo “<p>This is a PHP line</p>”;" it runs fine, what could the problem be?

I'd appreciate any help

Note sure but the style of quotes you use is not correct. You should use " and not “

<html>
<head>
<title>PHP Test</title>
</head>
<body>
<p>This is an HTML line
<?php
echo "<p>This is a PHP line</p>";
phpinfo();
?>
</body>
</html>

Make sure you are using a bob standard text editor, such as Notepad and not using MS Word/Wordpad when you are creating your PHP scripts.
