Importing data from a former non-phpbb forum

Hi! I'm completely new to the PHP world, and I'm kind of lost when it comes to this particular problem.

 

I have a cgi-based forum that saves the old posts in .txt files.

 

(Ex:

rhinocam pictures

0|No pictures yet?<br><br>We can't have that<br><br><br><br>|1172291022|rforney|68.19.215.19

1|Very Nice<br>|1172516112|DareBee|65.93.151.160

)

 

Now, I just set up a phpBB board, and I want to take all two thousand or so of these .txt files and stick them in as posts in the new board. I'm sort of at a loss about how to start... help would be greatly appreciated.
