cluce
I am trying to access my web server from another machine through internet explorer but I am receiving this message"Forbidden You don't have permission to access /localhost:80 on this server." In the address bar, I am typing in the name of the computer and the port like this..........."http://computername/localhost:80" can someone tell me how to allow access to this? Or what am I doing wrong?
effigy
You should only need http://computername. Is your Allow directive under your root directory allowing access?

effigy
If your FTP, users, groups, and permissions are set up properly--sure.
cluce
yes, I just uploaded my first website to that folder with no problem and it is there but it doesnt view properly because it is not exactly in the root folder. So I do not know how to host one website but I am having a problem hosting more than one site. Maybe you can help me? Under my INDEX OF/ folder I have two folders one AWI and the other Reagan and I have two websites I would like to publish and host under each folder in the root but obviously that will not work; So the problem is I only know how to publish one webiste and host it under the INDEX OF/ folder properly without the links getting broken by the root directory. Do I have to set up a virtual host to do this? If so do you know where there are some easy instructions on how to do this? I have tried to set up virtual hosts but had some Forbidden errors? Or is there another way? here is how my parent directory looks: AWI/ 07-Aug-2007 08:26 - //one website Reagan/ 07-Aug-2007 08:23 - //the other website.but I now know this wont work apache_pb.gif 20-Nov-2004 16:16 2.3K apache_pb.png 20-Nov-2004 16:16 1.4K apache_pb22.gif 14-Dec-2005 12:25 2.4K apache_pb22.png 14-Dec-2005 12:25 1.5K apache_pb22_ani.gif 14-Dec-2005 12:25 2.2K aspsample/ 06-Aug-2007 15:38 - phpinfo.php 13-Dec-2006 23:37 21 webdeveloper.php 15-Dec-2006 12:12
