Uploading speed

Given the same connection speed, does anybody have an idea of how FTP, HTTP, and HTTPS would compare speed-wise when uploading large files?  I am probably going to use HTTP, but if there is not too much of a performance lag with using HTTPS (say, no more than 20%), I would probably just use that.  On my person computer I can upload a 4MB file in two minutes using FTP.  I wonder how HTTP and HTTPS would do.  Before I design a test, I thought maybe somebody out there might have done this already.
