installation of php on an apache server

Hello, I am trying to teach myself a thing or two about web servers and other such things. I currently have been refering to this site [a href=\"http://www.webmasterstop.com/48-3.html\" target=\"_blank\"]http://www.webmasterstop.com/48-3.html[/a] , I followed the instructions to the T and am having a problem with the php aspect of it. This is the error i am getting.
Not Found

The requested URL /php/php.exe/phpinfo.php was not found on this server.
Apache/2.0.55 (Win32) Server at localhost Port 80

i should be getting a php info page.
You may have to refer to the listed site to see exactly what i am trying to accomplish.
