Why they removed FAM?

hi

 

there is a function that will monitor files and directories and its called FAM

(File Alteration Monitor).

 

But it is only supports (PHP 5 <= 5.0.5), i'm using PHP ver. 5.2.1 and it doesn't work anymore.

 

now my question is why did they removed FAM?
