image enhancement in javascript or css

hello guys,

i have a web page that allows the users to zoom in and zoom out images. now my problem is with the quality of the image. most of the images viewed are scanned documents and when zoomed, the quality looses. is there a way to enhance image quality of zoomed images? i am not expecting it to be completely readable when zoomed but at least some quality should be retained...

any javascript or css codes are highly appreciated. this web page only works in internet explorer as well.

thanks a lot.

actually, this is what i did. i changed the width and height of the img as what your link suggests. its working perfectly but when i zoom out images, the quality lessens. file documents at 100%, when zoomed in to 70% are not readable anymore. noise appears here and there. is there a way to come around this?
