[SOLVED] changing the documentroot to a diff dir

I am running xammp lite, great software.

 

I've been able to change the documentroot in the httpd.conf file to a different directory within the package's htdocs directory. However, I am looking to change it to one that is outside of the scope of the package.

 

Right now it looks like this (V: drive):

 

DocumentRoot "/xampplite/htdocs/8trk/www"

 

I want it to point to

 

V:\repository\website\www

 

The comments above the link in the conf doc says something about symbolic links and aliases, which I cant quite figure out.

 

Any help would be great.

it was a few lines down in the allowed directories section
