function read() on a non-object?

I was looking for a really nice directory listing script so my main directory didn't look so plain, and the script doesn't seem to work. It says there is a function read error on a non-object. I'm no PHP enthusiast, but it says it's just one line, and I can't seem to figure it out. If anybody could help me that'd be great, I came across these forums on a Google search about it and noticed everybody was pretty satisfied with the community.

Anyways, the script is hosted at

http://piktro.net/index.php

and a text file containing the entire code is located here

http://piktro.net/index.txt

My hosting is through servage.net if that has anything to do with it. Thank you in advance. I'm going to be sticking around at these forums.

I experienced a similar issue like this with opening up some photos in a list using php. the problem was that one of the files was corrupted. I would try to clear out the directory and try to put in 1 or 2 files that you know will read and see if the script works. it more than likely is a corrupted file.
