I know its not too smart to show your httpd.conf file, but ya.  I added these line sblow recently:

It won't start apache now.. stops on httpd.conf...

 

before I put PHPINIDIR it worked fine, BUT it would not parse php files, displayed them as unknown mime or sometimes text/plain.

 

WHAT DO I DO?

What version of Apache are you using? Make sure you are using the correct PHP module for the version of Apache you have installed. Eg, for Apache2.0.x you use php5apache2.dll, for Apache2.2.x you use php5apache2_2.dll.

 

Also try removing the php.ini from C:/php5, just incase it could be PHP's configuration that could be screwing up the startup process for Apache.

 

EDIT: Just noticed these lines:

Do you have WAMP from wampserver.com installed? If you do why are you adding PHP to Apaches configuration? WAMP is a preconfigured package.

I am using wamp, and php stopped working (wamp f****/*/*/*/cked up httpd.conf and i had to rewrite it from an apache 2.14 apache conf file.  Then I tried to rre-add the php enabling lines, and it doesnt parse.

 

I recently added a line:

ErrorDocument 403 "Screw Off, You Don't Belong Here!"

and now all my webpages return this (regardless of 200 or 403):

You will want to reinstall WAMP then. If the httpd.conf is corrupt, cant see how it did.
