New and Lost

Recommended Posts

Ok, i have downloaded PHP and now have a folder sitting on my desktop with a bunch of files in that i have no idea about. I clicked on the one that said INSTALL and it took me through a process of going on the terminal and uncommented a couple of lines. I dont actually know if it is installed or not, i have a dreamweaver file that has the extension .php and when i try to view it via my localhost in the browser it doesnt work??? I am told that as i have a Mac i already have Apache, do i need anything else? Why is this not working. If my username is Nicola and my test.php file is in the Sites folder should i be typing in http://localhost/USERS/Nicola/Sites/test.php ??

Please someone help me, i am pulling my hair out. Plese bear in mind i have no php knowledge so fancy lingo won't be much help.

Thanks
