$_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'] as hit counter?

Recommended Posts

I am logging the user's IP address into a database to act as a hit counter. So far I have 23 views as the site just came up a day ago. But in the statistics on 1and1.com (the hosting company) it says their was 39 unique visitors.

Now my question is, say there was 2 people in the same building and they both have the same IP it will only see that as 1 user which probably happened. Is their a better way to go about adding that specific computers info that cant be erased?
