Hello, I have this assignment to create a PHP script but every time I test it, it returns this error,

Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_ENCAPSED_AND_WHITESPACE, expecting T_STRING or T_VARIABLE or T_NUM_STRING in C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Apache2\htdocs\jokelist.php on line 36

What does this mean? I included the PHP script in the attachment. Thanks.

Change...

if (!$dbcnx) {
  exit('<p>Unable to connect to the ' .
      'database server at this time.</p>');
}

To...

if (!$dbcnx) {
  die('<p>Unable to connect to the database server at this time.</p>');
}

Do the same for the other one like it.

You're missing a quotation mark on line 11.

Stupid me! I wasn't suppose to add the quotation mark on line 11. After the 'root'. Before, I had it like this,

$dbcnx = @mysql_connect('localhost', 'root', ");

but then I changed it to this,

$dbcnx = @mysql_connect('localhost', 'root');

and now it works. But thanks for help  :)
