I have gone all deb linux madness now and thrown windows in the bin (thank god haraaaaaaa) So as you can see i am learning deb linux (Confussed but getting there). The big quistion just incase, When you goto apache you get the option to download unix source is that the correct files to work on a deb linux setup....... sorry very new 2 days old on the deb linux operating system........ I understand that linux is a cut down version of unix but apache calls there files unix dont need or want to download the wrong files thank you for your support..... quistion 2. also downloading php comes in a strange format for you to compile your self does this mean place the files in the correct directory.......... please help Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

If there's no option for linux, then unix is next best. Unix is to Linux as Windows is to Windows XP. Unix is the general class, and Linux is the specific version. Windows is the general class, and Windows XP is the specific version. It's a little different since all Windows are made by microsoft, but the different types of Unix are made all by different organizations.
