OsCommerce Coupon code Parse error

Hey there, I'm attempting to build a shopping cart with OsCommerce and wanted to put in one of those coupon code things. I follow the instructions fine and everything, but when I go into the admin pannel to physically install the moduel, I come up with this error message:

 

Parse error: parse error, unexpected $ in /home/detailer/public_html/osCommerce/catalog/admin/includes/boxes/catalog.php on line 42

 

The only thing that's in line 42 (the last line of code on that file) is:

Please help me! I'm about to go crazy over here!
