[SOLVED] What is this code called and where can I find out how to do it?

I`m assuming it`s Javascript that you do this with. I`ve seen sites (including this one) where above the message box, you see these little buttons used for formatting the look of your text. You click the box and it enters the code inside the message box. What is that called and where will I find out how to do it?

They are called WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) text editors. Just throw that into google
