I highly recommend that you spring for the $47 USD price tag of SQLyog Enterprise edition which now has a basic DB design/schema feature included. It's got tons of features in general. I was using phpmyadmin but SQLyog makes phpmyadmin seem like a toy program compared to it.

Freeware:

DBDesigner 4 is great but it doesn't seem to have been updated in a long time and I think it still doesn't support MySQL v5+ yet:

ArgoUML is an open source UML modeling tool written in Java. You'll need to download and install the DB modeling tool. I don't particularly like this myself.

Also have SQL support: http://argouml-sql.tigris.org

Nice .. thanks.

$50 isn't that bad, plus it has a trial. I'll give it a shot .. I just hate to pay $500 for software I will only use 10% of.

Visio is great, but i don't need all the bells and whistles.

Thanks again.
