Inserting country list in mysql from file?

Good day,

Is there an easy way to insert a list of country (from a txt file) in a mysql database? Or does it have to be done one by one (I doubt it ).

You can do it through PHP, fetch the content from text file and insert into MySQL table.

 

Just like this example

// get contents of a file into a string
$filename = "/usr/local/something.txt";
$handle = fopen($filename, "r");
$contents = fread($handle, filesize($filename));
fclose($handle);
?>

thats what I was thinking, just wanted to be sure there was no other fast way right in mysql or pma.

If your text file is encoded ANSI, then you can import in MySQL through phpMyAdmin.

There is a option for Format of SQL file, select ANSI and there you go.

 

P.S I have never tried that
