[SOLVED] String being shortened

This has been driving me mad all day . . . read a string into a list but the list is only outputting the first letter of the string!

Here's the script:

$ct++ ;

$list[$ct] = $subcat2  ; // string read from database up to 20 characters long echoing $subcats show full string

$concat = $concat.", ".$list[$ct]  ;

 

At this time $concat shows that $list[$ct] is just the first letter.

 

HelP! ???
