Content List Design Idea

I am a Javascript, PHP/MySql programmer and I can basically say I have no experience with css.  I'm not looking for anyone to do anything for me I want to do this myself, however I do need a starter idea...I'm looking to use CSS for a list.  The content block displays music artists, when the + button next to an artist is pressed, their albums drop down below, then when an album is expanded the songs drop below that.  What I need is a design idea to organize it so that it wouldn't be a big mess of data just thrown onto the screen.
