hi i have the above frames which is what im looking for but is there a way of doing the same with divs and not using frames

ditto on wrong section...

 

Usually frames are used for a specific reason, which is to be able to update one specific frame without reloading the entire site. Converting to divs will lose the ability to target a frame. If that's cool with you, here's a page with some 'frame' type layouts using CSS: http://www.pmob.co.uk/

 

Some of the code behind those examples is old, but it's a starting point. Further questions would be suited to the CSS forum.
