i am tryin to install phpbb and i have a database but no username and password

Kinda hard to answer a question with no information.

 

Did you create the DB locally?  Is it on a Webhost?  What kind of DB?  How is this PHP Help?

i am on the install menu where you have to enter a database name ,database username and database password by you can install and have a database but it has no username and password.

Creating the MySQL user and pass for the database is a separate function completely outside of phpBB, has nothing to do with phpBB.

 

So, if you could answer the question as to how your server is setup, we might be able to walk you through setting up the DB user...

try

db username : root

w/o any password mysql db's are set up with that as a default until you change it. ( unless a different one was created on install )

also , you most likely have an app on your server called phpMyAdmin, this is where you can make edits to your mysql db if you don't want to use command line or a gui like sql yog.
