hello everyone,

my problem is i want to create a simpe homepage with php on,

so ive writen the very simple piece of code (hello world) and saved the file as index.php

when i use a browser to go to the page its asked me to open the file which is a application/x-httpd-php then i can either download or open with

arrgh so what do i need to change to allow me to save index.php so it can be browsed at

ive had a go at adding <DirectoryIndex index.php index.html index.htm example.php> to the httpd file like so

<VirtualHost xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:xxx>

  ServerName  xxx.xx:x

  ServerAlias  xxx.xx.x

  UseCanonicalName Off

  ServerAdmin  "x"

  DocumentRoot /var/www/vhosts/x/httpdocs

  CustomLog  /var/www/vhosts/x/statistics/logs/access_log plesklog

  ErrorLog  /var/www/vhosts/x/statistics/logs/error_log

  <DirectoryIndex index.php index.html index.htm example.php>

the files are uploaded onto a vps from pipex with an up todate php version running linux some of the other domains are using the index.php format but i cant see what the difference is between mine and theres

any help would be amazing thanks james
