themistral
Hi, I have been asked to develop a CMS site and as it is not paying much I thought I would use a ready made CMS. However, I have looked at both Drupal and Joomla! and both seem to have their advantages and disadvantages. What are your opinions and has anyone else made the decision to have one over the over - if so why did you choose the one you now use? dbo
I personally prefer Drupal over Joomla. I've looked at both and didn't have much success with Joomla. Joomla seems to be more full featured and has a lot of momentum right now, but I just didn't care for the administrative piece. Didn't seem as logical.... although that could be because I started with Drupal, I dunno. To me Drupal is pretty easy to understand and jump right into. It's got a smaller footprint and would be easier to modify to fit your needs, moreso than Joomla. All that being said.... they're both free opensource projects. Download and install them both. This in and of itself may help you make your decision. Once you've got them both up and running, play with them a little bit and see which one fits your needs better. themistral
Thanks dbo! I have to say that I thought Drupal was a bit less rigid than Joomla! and I was steering towards it. Does anyone have any other thoughts either on good CMS projects - they need to support RSS/XML, and video and audio streams. Although, just the ability to be able to add to the project is enough...so open source would be best!
