izbryte
I have a page of firm listings and I would like to allow the visitors to be able to click on a letter A-Z that will display only the firms that begin with that letter. I have been working on it but it's not working for me. I was hoping someone could tell me what I'm doing wrong. For the links I have <a href="search.php?search_id=A">A</a> then in the code I have: if (isset($_GET['search_id'])){ //get id # $id1 = ($_GET['search_id']); } else { echo 'Did not get id number.'; } Finally the query: $query = mysql_query("SELECT * from firms WHERE substring(firmName,1,1) = '$id1' ORDER BY firmID DESC") or die(mysql_error()); I get no results though there should be some. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!
PHP_PhREEEk
Try $query = mysql_query("SELECT * from `firms` WHERE `firmName` LIKE '$id1%' ORDER BY `firmID` DESC") or die(mysql_error()); PhREEEk
intrktevo
I'd try $query = mysql_query("SELECT * from firms WHERE firmName LIKE '{$id1}%' ORDER BY firmID DESC") or die(mysql_error());
