How does quoting a post work exactly... just curious as to how it carries it and then posts it above your inputted text whilst surrounding it in like a colour box to make it stand out ...? Is it a session or something?

javascript is used for place forum tags in textarea and the php script is set-up to interpret cretin text patterns and convert them to html/css styles when their output to you forum; like:

 

[color=red][/color]

 

the php output would interpret the above code to something like:

 

<span style="color:red"></span>

forum tags will not be placed in textarea - test it out yourself - turn your JS off and simulate a thread post and try to wrap forum tags around some content - you will see that it does not work.

not exactly - you could take current text from your textarea and repost it, plus the forum tag text; in the textarea when someone clicks a forum tag button. that is about the best work around I can think of; if JS is not enabled.
