ajax & .js file: speed up loading?

Hi,

 

Don't know if I'm at the right place for this but here goes:

 

I'm currently building a website using googlepages (just messing around really) and I have been using code from http://honghua.deng.googlepages.com/AJAX_GPC for my menu system. The problem is that it does not load very quickly and doesn't seem to stay cached and so has to load every time. Just wandering if anybody has any hints/solutions...?
